"Place my body on a ship And burn it on the sea Let my spirit rise Valkyries carry me Take me to Valhalla Where my brothers wait for me! Fires burn into the sky My spirit will never diiiiiiiiie!" -Manowar - "Swords in the Wind" [link]
Those lyrics don't have much to do with this piece, but I was singing them in my head while I was painting this! Oh, and I swear I was telling the truth when I said I was going to post something before the end of last year, but I had a few days off last week so I decided to just try and finish this first. I'm too scared to post "in progress" shots, I guess.
So, this is just an image that appeared in my head a couple of months ago. There's nothing really significant in this piece, just fleshing out some character designs. And the character here is a very minor one, she doesn't even have a name yet, let alone a back story! For the visual background, I used a photo of a Roman amphitheater in Tunisia as a reference [link] (I can't seem to find a link to the specific pic I used) . There's no way I would've been able to paint the stadium seating without it. ^^'
The original painting was 1902x3300 and it took roughly four weeks to complete. I think I'm satisfied with it But I'm not totally sure, to be honest.
Oh, and as usual, an enthusiastic "Danke!" goes out to for his awesome brushes! I'll never paint rocks without them again!
