Anyway, all the links provided are to youtube.
Queen - Flash Gordon Theme [link]
ok, this isn't metal at all, but Queen rules
Celtic Legacy - Resurrection [link]
I'll start this list off with some straight up Irish power metal.
Lost Horizon - Cry of a Restless Soul [link]
If there were some kind of award for over the top power metal, this Swedish band would be strong contenders for the podium (Dragonforce would win, though). Not sure what they're singing about, but it has something to do with warriors
Virgin Steele - I Will Come For You [link]
Metal from exotic Long Island, New York. I love this song, particularly the last part... "Like the sun, like the wind and the rain I'll return. Like a storm, I will rise once again! Like the right hand of God, I will strike from above! Across the oceans of time, I am bound by your voice, I will return!"
Korpiklaani - Wooden Pints [link]
Finnish Beer Metal at it's finest. The link is to the actual music video. If I could be any person in this video I'd want to be the guy who plays the drum with one hand. Although, the violinist is pretty awesome too.
Heidevolk - Opstand Der Bataven [link]
Pagan viking/folk metal sung entirely in Dutch.
Shaman - Odda Mailbmi [link]
Jonne Järvelä's first band before he formed Korpiklaani. This band's stuff is much more atmospheric. Jonne sings in a style called Yoik, and the lyrics are in the Sami language of Northern Scandanavia. I have yet to find a place where I can actually get copies of their cds.
Primordial - Empire Falls [link]
Irish folk celtic black metal... or something? Reminds me of New Order's "Blue Monday" for some reason.
Alestorm - Over the Seas [link]
Don't think that there could possibly be a band that sings songs exclusively about pirates? Prepare to be proven wrong! Although, to be fair, Germany's Running Wild have been singing about pirates since 1987.
Blind Guardian - The Quest For Tanelorn [link]
I've got to put something by BG on this list! This is one of the best songs from their earlier stuff. And I have this song to thank for getting me into the work of Michael Moorcock.
